Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit

Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi has established an Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) in each of its institutes with the responsibility for computerization and implementation of Information Technology (IT). ICAR-CICR, Nagpur with its regional stations at Sirsa and Coimbatore has developed a robust Local Area Network (LAN) using multi-core Optical Fiber backbone with Manageable CISCO Layer -3 and Layer-2
Switches with CAT-6 cables for distribution of Internet Connectivity at 172 active nodes in entire Institute.

CICR, Nagpur is a partner of National Knowledge Network (NKN) Project of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Govt. of India, New Delhi for sharing research information through online database and website. Under this project NIC-NKN has provided 100 mbps lease line from New Delhi to CICR, Nagpur using the media of RailTel. AKMU is broadcasting this High Speed Internet facility at 172 active nodes of three Research and Administrative Wings (Crop Improvement Divisions, Crop Productions Division, Crop Protection Division, Administrative Wing (Director’s Cell, Audit Section, Establishment Section, Bill & Cash Section, Store Purchase Section, Physical Store Section, Office of Senior Adm. Officer/HOO, Office of FAO, Library Section, Conference Hall, Committee Room, Seminar Hall and Training Hall),
Supporting Sections (PME Cell, AKMU Office, Farm Section, ATIC Cell, ITMU Cell, Security Office)

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi has implemented ICAR Online ERP System for Information Management System (MIS) and Financial Management System (FMS) using Oracle JAVA for database and ASP.Net for front pages. This project is being technically supported by IBM. At CICR, Nagpur ICAR ERP Online System is being monitored and implemented by AKMU. Shri Sanjay Kushwaha, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (AKMU) has been designated as “Local system administrator” for ICAR ERP Online System and IBM, New Delhi has nominated as “FMS Administrator” for this system. The role of FMS Administrator to switch the responsibility of staff related to their working Sections. AKMU is playing very vital role in coordination of ICAR MIS-FMS System among Institute’s Establishment Section for HRMS module, Store Section for Assets & Purchase module, Bill & Cash Section for Bill
Creation & Payroll module and Audit Section for final payment and bill validation.

AKMU at CICR has successfully implemented the e-office in head office at Nagpur and its two regional stations at Sirsa and Coimbatore. The concept of Biometrics based Attendance System has been introduced by AKMU in 2015, now total 07 Nos. of Biometrics machines are being maintained by AKMU. AKMU has also established 48 CCTV cameras for Security aspects in the Institute.

Online examination centre of ASRB is being run and maintained by AKMU at CICR centre with 50 nodes.
