  • Paper tube Nursery technique –Cotton transplanting Paper tube with size of 1 cm diameter and height of 20 cm were filled (top 1 cm left unfilled to supply water ) with equal portion of vermi compost, sand and soil and packed gently. Compactness of packing should be ensured in every tubes for proper germination. Healthy single seed was dibbled in each tube and water was applied from the top. Tubes were kept in iron tray filled with moist sand (moisture is maintained by sprinkling water) at bottom and covered with wire mesh facilitate to keep paper tubes in upwards. Seedling at the age of 20 days were transplanted in hole made by crow bar and pressed gently to avoid air pockets and irrigated immediately
  • Package for HDPS was developed for south zone includes suitable varieties Suraj and , Anjali, inclined plate planter identified for mechanical sowing, post emergence weed control by using quizalofop ethyl 50 g/ha and pyrithiobac sodium 75 g/ ha at 30 days after sowing and nutrient level (125 % RDN) and land configuration (ridges and furrow method). Adoption HDPS package were found 2.3 fold increase of yield as compared to popular Bt hybrid (RCH 2 Bt).
  • Cotton based multi tier intercropping systems was standardized. Multi tier system of cotton + radish + cluster bean + beet root registered the highest Relative Production Efficiency, Relative Economic Efficiency and Land Equivalent Ratio of 182.2%, 308.7 % and 2.2 respectively as compared to sole cotton
  • Low cost poly-tubes lateral based drip system was developed. The costs of polytube drip system was Rs. 31252 per hectare of land for using of 150 micron thickness of polytubes, which was cheaper by 57.8 % in comparison to existing dry system.
  • A yield maximization technique was standardized for ELS cotton. The combination of chisel ploughing+drip fertigation + foliar spraying of specialty fertilizer (19:19:19 @ 1% at 75 and 105 DAS and 13:0:46 @ 1% at 90 DAS) found higher performance
  • Package of practices was developed for Bt cotton .Optimum time of sowing for Bt cotton was standardized. Geometrical arrangement of plants in 75 cm between rows and 60 cm between plants registered significantly the highest seed cotton yield .Application of 125 % RD level fertilizers was found optimum for Bt hybrids.
  • Micronutrient studies concluded that ginning percentage and uniformity ratio were significantly enhanced by soil application of FeSO4 @ 50 kg/ha in Fe. deficit soil. Foliar application of Mg SO4 @ 0.5% on 60, 75 and 90 DAS and soil application of borax @5 kg/ha increased (18%) the seed cotton yield.
  • Critical period for supplementary irrigation to rainfed cotton was identified. Providing single irrigation at boll development stage increased yield at the rate of 3.0q/ha
